Boys basketball becomes more physical
Boys basketball is winding down their season. This year’s SCHS Boys Basketball team has 25 players. They are a combination of returning and new athletes. The coaches for 21-22 season basketball teams are Head Coach Jason Friesen, Junior Varsity Coach Chad Wisemen and Head Reserve Coach Tyler Peterson. According to Coach Friesen, the improvements the team has made this year are “rebounding better, being more physical, improved effort, understanding the game a bit better, and starting to think and ask about how to improve themselves and the team.” The team is competitive when playing together. Coach Friesen explained that “when playing as an individual the team is not as competitive when working as a team.” Over the season, Coach Friesen has seen the players “really get closer as a team.”
Coach Friesen enjoys the responsibility of teaching and growing a program that develops the skills of young guys becoming better at basketball. “It has been a learning season. We’re trying to figure out the right formula for the guys to be successful, and play as a team,” shared Coach Friesen. As for the 21-22 season, Coach Friesen is trying to get the guys to be the best team they can be. After the season is over, Coach Friesen plans to evaluate and make plans to be the best team for next year.
