Alba goes to Nationals

Gina Alba, SCHS qualifier for Nationals.

FCCLA Nationals qualifier Gina Alba, a tenth grader who goes to Schuyler Community High School, competed in the category Instructional Video Design. She is currently a chapter Vice President of Competitive Events officer and also serves on the State Peer Officer Team. This will also be her first year attending Nationals for FCCLA. The National competition in San Diego, California this summer. This will allow Gina to meet FCCLA members from all over the country. FCCLA is the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. It is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Family and Consumer Science

Albas’ video project was submitted and presented digitally. Her video was about brain breaks, their importance, what they are, and how to implement them into everyday life. The sponsor for FCCLA is Jared Severson, a Family Consumer Science teacher at Schuyler Central High School. The initial judging was completely online. “Since my video was one of fifteen selected for nationals, I will give an in-person presentation involving my video” shared Gina. Alba qualified for State her eighth grade year but wasn’t able to do it in person because of COVID.
