Jose Rocha, the owner of J Rocha Designs led the campaign for a classroom makeover for one elected teacher at Schuyler Community Schools. Jose began his business in 2021. J Rocha Designs, decorates events such as; weddings, Quinceanera, Birthday Parties, Christmas Decorations, Baby Showers, Gender Reveal and other events. Jose, once a SCHS student, attended and graduated at SCHS during the pandemic of 2020. Jose was in Yearbook for several years and Broadcasting for one year. Jose got the idea of donating money from Facebook. In a recent New Channel Nebraska report, Jose explained how he saw a lady who goes to different schools and gives them classroom makeovers. Pinnacle Bank, Homestead Bank, Bank of the Valley, and Cargill donated a total of $4,000 for the classroom makeover to take place. The community of Schuyler had the chance to vote for the teacher they wanted to win on Facebook.

Brante Hayes, a first grade teacher at Schuyler Elementary School, was chosen to receive the classroom makeover. Mr. Hayes has been teaching for 11 years and 8 of those years at Schuyler. Mr. Hayes was not aware of the competition going on. He explained and said “I had no idea this was even going on. Then when a bunch of people all came into my room with music, balloons, confetti cannons, I was taken over by happiness and appreciation.” The makeover fund will help provide new shelves, new wall decorations, desks, chairs, storage units and more. “It really feels good being recognized and chosen for this makeover.  I’m very excited to see what they all do to my room,” shared Mr. Hayes.
