As we start off the march of 2023 Track and Field season, it becomes a giant priority for some of the students in SCHS. 26 male students and 19 female students are competing in Track this year. Whether you are running, pole vaulting, or long jumping, most of the SCHS Warrior athletes are setting goals to surpass. “My goals for Track this year are to break the school record for pole vault, personal record in triple jump, and go to State for at least one of my events,” shared Austin McCulloch, a senior at SCHS and one of the two athletes that qualified for state last year.

“Track and Field is a great sport, because it’s yourself versus the past version of yourself,” according to Girls Track Head Coach Scott Mollring. This is Coach Mollriing’s 21st year coaching track, but first year as head coach at SCHS. Coach Mollring shared that he has always enjoyed seeing athletes grow and improve. “Track and Field is awesome, because you only get out of it what you put into it,” commented Coach Mollring.

The Boys Track and Field Head Coach Richard Carter explained, “One reason why people should join track is simply to get in better shape and to be involved with a team.” This year there are two track meets at SCHS normally there is only one. April 20th will be the Fred Arnold meet and on May 2nd SCHS will be hosting Conferences. “As a coach, my goal is for every athlete to get better, and it is really enjoyable to see that happen,” shared Coach Carter.
