Schuyler Qualifies for State

Boys Soccer qualifies for state.

On Saturday, May 6th, the boys soccer team played their final District game against Scottsbluff at Schuyler. This game determined if they would go on and play at State or if it was their last game of their season. The first half Scottsbluff was up by one then David Arciga 9 scored their first goal. Following Jose Cruz, 11 ,scoring two goals in the second half. The final score was 3-1. They won and qualified for State. Jose Cruz, a junior, shared that he felt “really good and excited when they blew the whistle.” This was the first time the boys qualified for State in five years. “I think I bring a lot of jokes to the team,” Jose stated. The Schuyler Boys Soccer team the “Warriors” were ranked 5 on Nebraska Class B schools on Maxpreps.com. Regarding the State semifinals on Wednesday, Jose explained that “I think we will perform to the best of our ability.”

On Wednesday, May 10th, the Boy Soccer team traveled to Morrison Stadium, Creighton University in Omaha for their first State game to compete for the quarterfinals against South Sioux City. In the first half of the game, South Sioux City scored one point. Then in the second half, Schuyler scored two points. Obed Benazo, a sophomore, scored those two points. Making them the winners and advancing to the semifinals. On Saturday, they competed with Bennington for the Championship and lost 1-4. The Boys Soccer season has ended and this concludes their 2023 season.
