At the beginning of this school year, seniors didn’t have an open lunch. Many seniors were furious about this new rule. Some of them had been waiting their whole high school life for this moment, but it was taken away from them. A couple of seniors decided to go talk to the Director of Student Services, Dr. Joey Lefdal. Chloe Beltrand, Kasey Brabec, and Carlos Alarcon met with Dr. Lefdal.

They approached him the Friday before school started. There was a meeting held in Mr. Grammer’s office to discuss their thoughts and concerns of the new open campus lunch policy. Chloe Beltrand said “I believe the only reason anything was accomplished as quickly as it was came from our persistence and determination to prove ourselves, the senior class, to not be at fault for the sins of our predecessors.” Dr. Lefdal was planning on giving the open campus lunch back to the seniors, he just needed a few students to come up with rules on open campus lunch.

According to Dr. Lefdal the open campus lunch is going okay so far. He said, “We still have a few bugs to work out, but we will get those done.  We are going to start watching cameras to make sure that all students are making passes in our e-hallpass system. Once we create a plan for watching cameras, we will know which students will lose their lunch privileges.” Hopefully students can follow the rules of the open campus lunch policy, because if they don’t, open campus lunch can be taken away again.
