Freshmen Qualifies for Poetry Contest
Freshmen, Brienna Romero, entered the Rattle Young Poets Anthology an online poetry contest. Romero qualified for the semi-finals. “The ironic thing about trying to get my poem published is (at the time I submitted my poem) I cared less about literature than I do now,” said Romero. Romero wanted to enter the contest and have her poem published, because she has been writing poetry since she was 12 years old. She wasn’t very talented at first, but she soon got better through years of practice. According to Romero, “The poetry contest is just the start for trying to find a way of how I can get my poems published.”
The Rattle Young Poets Anthology contest first place winner receives $2000 and a wall plaque value of $100.00. Second place winners receive $100 and a wall plaque. Romero will continue to submit her poems to this contest and others to follow her dream of becoming a published writer.
