Two Students receive Midland Leadership Award
Two SCHS students were honored at the Outstanding High School Leader Award Ceremony at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska on March 29th, 2019. Juniors, Crystal Carrillo and Travis Marxsen, were two of an elite group of students that earned this honor. Students from other schools in the area were represented at the event. Some of the schools that were there included were; North Bend, Cedar Bluffs, DC West, Howells Dodge, Fremont Public Schools, along with other schools.
“It was an amazing experience for Crystal and for Travis,” remarked Aaron Thumann. Aaron Thumann, SCHS Physical Education teacher, and Joel Carrillo, SCHS Math teacher, nominated and joined the students at the ceremony. Teachers at SCHS were contacted and asked to nominate students who demonstrated outstanding leadership skills throughout the school and during their extracurricular activities.
He is a sophomore and it’s his first time as a staff reporter for the Warrior News. He plays plays soccer with his friends at the park.
