This pandemic has added a whole dynamic for this year’s volleyball season. Many schools, this year have had to go remote and weren’t able to have a Fall sports season. Schuyler Central High School has a new head volleyball coach. Coach Allie Scheil became a P.E. teacher at SCHS mid school year and this her first year coaching. When asked how coach Scheil feels about going into the season with the pandemic, she responded with “It definitely is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. I am just hoping we are still able to have a season.” 

This year players will be required to wear masks during practice. Players are only able to take them off if they get a drink. When asked about away games Coach Schiel remarked “during the bus ride there and back they will be required to put their masks on.” Players will have to follow other schools policies regarding wearing your mask while playing or being able to take it off. 

This year there are 50 players participating in volleyball. In the volleyball community sometimes certain teams or certain players have a ritual or have a way of getting themselves in the game mind set. According to sophomore Suset Landaverde “I don’t have a ritual, but I like to keep positive while playing especially during games.” This will be her second year playing volleyball at Schuyler Central High School.
