Did you know that Schuyler Community Schools have been streaming live games  since 2014? Schuyler Middle school/Media Specialist and teacher, Shanda Hall began overseeing students streaming live games in 2014. When they first started streaming games, they had one camera and now they have several. The sports her class streams are; football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and soccer.

It all started with a high ability learners program in 2009. It was an after school and lunch time club and they were learning the basics. Mrs. Hall was able to add a broadcasting class to the SMS curriculum a few years later when funding became available through a grant. When the school connected with Taylor Siebert, the CEO of STRIV, Mrs. Hall knew it was the right fit for Schuyler. The company has continued to grow and serves over 120 school districts in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and South Dakota. STRIV is a Nebraska based company that helps schools stream their events. STRIV gives kids the opportunity to do real world work in journalism with Mrs. Hall to support them. Also they have only used STRIV since 2014. The broadcasting class is now able to provide a service to the community by streaming the athletic events, music events, and even graduation. The middle school broadcasting class students have announced at conference, district, and even State soccer. The State broadcast was the first students that led production in Nebraska history and it was also done in Spanish. Mrs. Hall is very thankful that the students of Schuyler and her were given the opportunity to start a media production/communications class.
