Circle in a Gym Floor, Meaningful?
Here at Schuyler Central High School the “Old” East gym is becoming an auditorium. In the center of the gym, there was a circle with a Native American head which was a symbol for our school mascot “Warriors”. This has been meaningful to people of Schuyler. Now that it is being removed from the floor, it will be remembered and known for its symbolism. It has been special, because of how long it has been there and the memories many SCHS Alumni have associated with the gym and floor. Many games and functions have been held there. It has been part of the community and school for 67 years, from 1953 to 2020.
With the addition of the new auditorium, Schuyler Community Schools will host more activities. The community and the school can host events with the newly remodeled auditorium. According to Dr. Dan Hoesing, Schuyler Community Schools Superintendent, the upcoming open house will be set for December 16. It was a lunchroom, cafeteria, auditorium, and gym. This section of the school’s transformation will open up more activities and achievements.
