Girls Basketball has started its new season. This year SCHS Girls Basketball team has a total of 19 players, a combination of new and returning athletes. The coaches for this year’s basketball teams are Coach Daniel Wolken, SCHS Social Studies teacher, will be with the varsity team. SCHS Coach Richard     Godejohn will assist with all three teams but will be the head coach of the junior varsity. Coach Connor Heire,  P.E student teacher from Wayne College, will work with both the junior varsity and freshman teams. 

According to Coach Wolken, “One of our strengths of our team is being very aggressive and attacking the basket. One weakness is having to deal with other teams’ height advantage”. The team’s main goal is to be more productive on offense. The toughest team for this year to compete with is Grand Island Northwest. Coach Wolken’s opinion of how the season will be like is that the girls team will be more competitive this year, because there are more starters on varsity who have seen varsity time from previous years of playing.
