February 14-17 was a week devoted to FCCLA. FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. This is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization. FCCLA week had a different theme for students and teachers to follow each day. The week started off on Valentines Day, which included students wearing Valentine themed pajama day or as much red as possible.

FCCLA Co-President, Vivian Sayer shared, “I think the benefits of FCCLA week are getting members involved and having fun activities for the whole school to participate.”

The second day of the FCCLA week was “everything but a backpack day.” Students were challenged to not bring a backpack, but something else to store items normally in a backpack. Some items that students carried or dragged from class to class were: a basket, a baby stroller, a kayak, a microwave, and even a baby crib. The third day’s theme was to dress up as your favorite teacher. Different students came with different types of clothes that resembled the teacher of their choice. The teachers on the other hand dressed up as the students. Teachers dressed as students by wearing sweats, a hoodie, and headphones.

On Thursday, students dressed up as their future career. The students dressed up as construction workers, Cargill workers, and farmers. During Focus, students wrote a thank you note to the school employee of their choice and the workroom was decorated with the notes of thanks.
