New to the FFA Team
Schuyler Central High School welcomed eleven new teachers this year. One of them is Hal Moomey and this is his first year teaching. Mr. Moomey began his post secondary education by attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and studied agricultural education. Mr. Moomey was also a part of the FFA Chapter during his high school years. He also helped start up the Kearney FFA Chapter in 2016. Mr. Moomey was the secretary and then president of the Kearney chapter. Senior year in FFA, he had the opportunity to coach multiple freshman teams and this introduced him to teaching.
Mr. Moomey’s FFA teacher inspired him to become an educator. Mr. Moomey said, “she was always pushing me to help younger members in the chapter with competitions and school.” Mr. Moomey’s favorite memory from high school was getting to take part in an agricultural exchange program. “For a whole week I got to travel to Taiwan to experience their culture and learn about agricultural markets and trade,” said Mr. Moomey. Mr. Moomey is looking forward to getting to know all of the students in his classes this year. He also believes in the school’s mission and can’t wait to help each and every student find their own passions.
