Schuyler Central High School’s 2022 Football season has begun. Football Coach Troy Schlueter has been coaching football for 21 years. Coach Schlueter has some expectations for the players this year. Coach Schlueter has the same goal every year, it is “to raise our level of play each time we touch the field.” Coach Schlueter expects “perfect” effort for the players so they do better each game and improve better as a team. According to Coach Schlueter, some strengths of the football team are attitude, daily improvement, and helping out teammates.

Leaders are assets to a great football team and Coach Schlueter shared “There’s already a bunch of leaders, but the guys that continue to show up and work their tails off daily will continue to lead.” On the 26th of August, the varsity football team played Omaha Concordia in their first game with a close end score of 0-3, Omaha Concordia. Schuyler also played O’neill on September 2 and Schuyler lost with a score of 43-0. O’neill is not in the Central Conference, but is new to the schedule. The upcoming game is against Fairbury. It is the Schuyler Homecoming game on Friday, September 9 at 6pm and this is the first home game of this season.
