On Saturday the 15th, the Schuyler Central High School Boys Soccer team competed for the Conference title. The boys won their match with the final game, against Lexington, with a score of five to one. The team took Lexington’s place at first for the Conference title for Class B Boys. Following Conferences, boys ranked 3rd in Class B by NE Soccer Talk. Ranked 2nd was Bennington and 1st was Skutt. According to MaxPreps.com, the boys soccer team has an overall win loss record of 12-2 and 3-0 at Districts. Lyndon Beebe is the head coach for the boys soccer team and has been head coach for 12 years. “We have very good depth. Having this many good soccer players means we have very competitive practices which helps us improve from week to week,” Coach Beebe explained.

One of their biggest strengths has been their expectation that they will be successful this season. They have several players whose goal is to play for their teammates first, which is very important in a team sport. Jeremy Hlavac and Troy Schlueter are the two assistant coaches for the boys soccer team. “I think talking is the biggest way of letting my teammates know there’s somebody on them, which will help them figure out their next move,” Kevin Pacheco explained. “I was happy that we won the conference. It was a challenge, but we’ve been working together since winter,” Kevin shared. The boys soccer team is now competing in Districts. The final District game is Saturday, May 7th at 12 p.m. at Schuyler against Scottsbluff. The winner of that game will qualify for State. “We worked for it (Conference) and I can’t wait for what else we can accomplish in this season,” Kevin happily shared.
