The 2023 SCHS Softball Team

Fall 2023 begins the second year for Shala Ostberg as Schuyler Central High School’s Softball Head Coach. According to Coach Ostberg the goals for this year’s team are “to improve our stats as individuals and as a team, for example, getting more outs, batting better, and scoring more runs.” There are currently thirteen players on the SCHS Softball team. Coach Ostberg played softball in high school at High Plains Community High School. Coach Ostberg also played softball in college at Midland University. Coach Ostberg was an assistant softball coach for one year and this will be her second year as head coach of the SCHS softball team.

Karen Gallo, a freshman on the SCHS softball team, shared that “some strengths our team has is working together, encouraging each other and making sure everyone is having fun.” This year is currently Karen’s first year playing softball. Karen explained that her goal is to “get a hit and get at least one home run by the end of the season.” Coach Ostberg commented that the “team is very coachable, very responsible, and works very hard.”  This year the softball team has had two game cancellations. On September 25th softball will have its first home game against Northbend at 5:00 pm.
