SCHS Girls Golf season has kicked off the start of this 2023-24 school year. With the new season ahead comes more growth and learning opportunities for the Girls Golf team. Coach Shanda Hall reported that she believes the strength her team has this year is leadership from the older players. “They are helping to offer tips to our newest golfers,” explained Coach Hall. Gina Alba, Sami Krupka, and Maribel Gonzalez collectively shared that their strengths as a team is how they get along, and their improvement all together and their motivation to push each other.
The girls are looking forward to the friendly competition between themselves as a group and the other teams. Senior, Gina Alba stated that the goal she set for herself is to challenge and build her mentality for the game because unlike wrestling, it isn’t very physical. Maribel and Sami’s goal for this season is to improve their scores from last year. Coach Hall reported that along with the girl’s goals they will also be working on making smart shot decisions and better club selections. “Managing courses is a huge part of the game,” commented Coach Hall.
Coach Hall shared that their most challenging meet will be York, she said the course itself is not always easy. Coach Hall’s word of advice for people thinking about joining is “Give it a try… we have equipment waiting for you!” Monday, September 11th, Varsity and Junior Varsity both have a meet at twelve at the Schuyler Golf Course.
