February 12-15 was a week devoted to Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. The FCCLA members put together different themes for students to follow during the week. Monday was cartoon day, Tuesday was career day, Wednesday was FCCLA day, and Thursday was alumni day. FCCLA member Jazminlett Bernel shared that FCCLA week “will make students want to be involved.” FCCLA week is the one time a year where the school gets to celebrate both FCCLA and Family and Consumer Science Education. It raises awareness of what members have accomplished and what non-members can be a part of.
The FCCLA members also put together a Quizizz tournament that was played during Focus class. They also made breakfast for teachers on Tuesday the 13th. During the school week, many students participated in the dress up days. Daisy Mejia, Personal Finance teacher and FCCLA Co-Advisor, shared, “I think most students will participate the most in red and white day since you can celebrate the holiday and FCCLA at the same time.” Red and white are the official FCCLA colors. The color red symbolizes strength, courage, and determination. The color white symbolizes sincerity of purpose and integrity of action.
