Cheer tryouts for the Schuyler Warriors have come to an end. The cheerleaders had a their tryouts on Friday, March 22. The following students are the 2024-25 Cheer squad; Aileen Barahona (9), Alex Aldana (11), Alexa Contreras (10), Aylin Angel (11), Bela Jedlicka (11), Emireth Santizo (11), Kimberly Encarnacion (9), Lexi Wallingford (9), Lili Limon (8), Madelyn Mendez (9), Mia Bernal (10), Nuria Fuentes (9), Rihanna Ochoa (11), Shanty Palma (8), Sinai Sanchez (11), Valeria Grado (9), and Yamilet Ortiz (11). Cheer Coach Molly Parsons shared that she was looking for ”individuals who are happy, outgoing, and positive!” This is a fundamental part for the cheerleaders, because they are often seen in the public eye.
2023-2024 cheerleader and sophomore, Alexa Contreras shared that a way that she prepared for cheer tryouts was practicing whenever she could. “I also practice my facials, facials are a very big and important part of cheer,” explained Alexa. Fundraising is also a part of being a cheerleader, because for new cheerleaders the uniform is approximately $1200 and for returning cheerleaders is approximately be $600. This spring and summer the Schuyler Warrior Cheerleaders will be selling trash bags in the spring, hosting a feed the farmer event also in the spring, and selling fireworks in the summer.
