Due to Amy Johnson’s retirement after 36 years of being a Warrior, Schuyler Central High School hired a new counselor named Wade Brashear. This is Mr. Brashear’s second year as a school counselor and 13th year in education. Mr.Brashear explained that he chose Schuyler Central High School, because “the administration here recruited my wife and I to the area”. The school has given Mr. Brashear a chance to “be autonomous and to provide leadership.” I also enjoy working in a diverse environment.” Mr. Brashear is excited to start a new year with new staff and new students.

Mr. Brashear likes to meet new people and build relationships. Mr. Brashear became a counselor because his “mentor Mike Smith and my grandfather Warren both inspired me to be a counselor, plus many other great people in my life along the way.” Mr. Brashear has a lot of potential to become a counselor and tries to put his all into school activities. Mr. Brashear is one of the assistant coaches for the softball team. He enjoys building relationships, having great conversations with students, and giving support to people.
