The new season of 2023-2024 Schuyler Central High School Warrior Cross Country team now begins at the starting line. They will head up to new achievements and hard situations. Last spring Coach Lyndon Beebe retired. Coach Rick Carter will continue to coach cross country in addition to middle school teacher Adam Robinson.
The beginning of a season is the time to set goals. Freshmen cross country athlete, Mynor Hernandez Raya explained ”my goal for cross country is to make it to State as a freshman.” According to Mynor he can qualify for State because one of his strengths is that he is goal oriented. The 22-23 State qualifiers were:Gavin Bywater, Gabby Rodriguez, Sinai Sanchez, and Miriam Deanda. They are all returning athletes with the exception of Gavin Bywater who graduated. Mynor also explains that athletes that he thinks are leaders on the boys team are “Yojan Cruz, Carlos Carrasco, Joarcy Sanchez, we support each other all the time and our teammates.” They motivate the team to keep going and try their best so they can accomplish their goal. Their biggest goal is to see every single one of them to improve.
