The new head coach for Girls Cross Country is Adam Robinson, a Schuyler Middle School math teacher. Coach Robinson was the middle school girls cross country head coach for the past few years. As a team, the girls and boys  have multiple strengths. According to Boys Head Coach Rick Carter, “on the girls team, the biggest strength is the return of three state qualifiers joined by freshman Maddie Mendez.”

Playing sports is all about setting goals, one of cross country team goals according to Coach Carter, “Our biggest goals are to continually improve and stay injury free.” The boys and girls cross country teams are also trying to get some runners to qualify for State. Leadership is important. According to Coach Rick Carter, senior Mynor Basillo is a good leader at practice for the boys, and for the girls the team leader is junior Sinai Sanchez. Sophomore Miriam Deanda, defends her gold medal that she  earned as a freshman. Miriam defended her top score of 21 minutes 39 seconds 46 milliseconds. Miriam also captured her second gold medal and beat her last year time as 22 minutes 10 seconds and 6 milliseconds.
