Colton Spahr, also known as Mr. Spahr by students, is the new freshmen English teacher at Schuyler Central High School. Mr. Spahr attended high school in Wayne, Nebraska, where he was a part of the choir, the jazz, the one act team, and the musical during all of high school. “My favorite memory of high school is performing a version of “Who’s on First” during the intermission of “Damn Yankees!” my senior year,” shared Mr. Spahr. Mr. Spahr attended college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
“I wanted to teach in Schuyler because it is close to home without being home,” Mr. Spahr explained. One thing nobody knows about Mr. Spahr is that he currently runs a tabletop role-playing game called Monster of the Week every Sunday for his friends. In the game Monster of the Week, Mr. Spahr plays the role of the game master or Lore Keeper. In this role, Mr. Spahr plans out the mystery for each session, moderates the game, and plays all the non-player characters. Mr. Spahr wanted to become a teacher because he loves reading and writing, and wanted to give those skills to his students. “The advice that I would give my high school freshmen self would be to put myself out there and make a few more friends,” Mr. Spahr shared.
