Did you know there is a new speech teacher this year? Jennifer Torpin, is a new Speech teacher for Schuyler Central High School. The 2023-24 school year is her first year teaching speech as a full time teacher. Mrs. Torpin has been a substitute teacher at Shelton, Wood River, Omaha, Wynot, and Sumner for nine years. She was a librarian at Wynot. Mrs. Torpin is married to Grant Torpin, a SCHS ITA teacher. They have two children, Carter a fifth grader and Tasha second grader.
Mrs. Torpin went to high school at Conestoga in Murray. She went to college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Mrs. Torpin shared that her favorite high school memory was “sleepovers with my friends.” Mrs. Torpin adds that in high school she was in band, choir, drama, FBLA, Student Council and National Honor Society. Mrs. Torpin is inspired by “her love for learning.” Mrs. Torpin explained that her biggest strength teaching is her ability to be flexible in the classroom. Mrs. Torpin’s biggest goal this year is to “build a fun speech class.”
