Gavin Dowding, is the new athletic trainer at the Schuyler Community High School. This is Gavin’s first year being a certified athletic trainer, however as a student he had a clinical rotation at Waverly High School, Lincoln East High School, and Pius X. Gavin graduated from Norris High School, which is south of Lincoln. Gavin went to college at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Gavin has always wanted to become an athletic trainer. He has been involved in sports his whole life. During high school. He played baseball and basketball. He also played basketball in college for a year.
“One of my favorite things that I do as an athletic trainer is being able to assist athletes through their injuries and get them back on the field/court/etc in a safe manner.” Gavin explained. Gavin has always wanted a career in the medical field, working as an athletic trainer allows Gavin to be around sports while providing medical coverage. “I think there’s many important things that high school athletes should do, but I would say the main thing is to just enjoy everything you can about high school athletics!.” shared Gavin.
