Grant Torpin, also known as Mr. Torpin by students, is the new Schuyler Central High School Information Applications Technology and Personal Finance teacher. Mr. Torpin is married to Jennifer Torpin, who is the SCHS Speech teacher. They currently have two children. Mr. Torpin went to O’Neill Public High School. During his time in high school, he participated in Speech and One Act. After graduating high school in 2005, Mr. Torpin went to University of Nebraska at Kearney where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business and Masters degree in K-12 Administration. “I wanted to become a teacher, because I love the idea of helping others and community service,” Mr. Torpin shared.
Mr. Torpin’s favorite memory of high school is when he and his friend had fun being super creative in a video editing class. “I have known Dr. Lefdal for several years and he shared with me all the great things going on at Schuyler,” Mr. Torpin explaining why he chose Schuyler. One thing that people may not know about Mr. Torpin is that he has been an ice hockey goalie for the last 15 years. A message that he would give his high school self is that popularity doesn’t matter at all, and things that may seem like the end of the world will be quickly forgotten.
